Monday, 3 June 2024 -
Monday is all about arriving and settling in. It will be possible to register for the conference at the main hotel “martas” throughout the day. In the afternoon there is the option of a guided city tour.
In the evening, from 6 p.m., there will be a get-together at the venue Panorama.

Tuesday, 4 June 2024 -
On Tuesday, 4 June EuroMAB 2024 will be officially opened. In addition to the welcome address, we will hear various inputs on the conference theme ‘Climate for Change - UNESCO Biosphere Reserves for Sustainable Futures’ and have the opportunity to exchange experiences and ideas in discussion rounds. On this day, we would also like to take a look at the World Congress taking place in China 2025.
There will be a reception in the evening where we are expecting Steffi Lemke (Federal Minister for the Environment, Nature Conservation, Nuclear Safety and Consumer Protection of Germany), Armin Willingmann (Deputy Minister-President of the Federal State of Saxony-Anhalt), Maria Böhmer (President of the German Commission for UNESCO) and António Abreu (Director of the Division of Ecological and Earth Sciences at UNESCO).
The opening in the morning as well as the programme in the afternoon and the reception in the evening will take place centrally located in the Stadthaus Wittenberg - within walking distance from the various hotels.

Wednesday, 5 June 2024 -
We will start in the morning at around 9 a.m. by bus from Lutherstadt Wittenberg. All participants will spend the day visiting 4 - 5 excursion stops in the region. The stops will give an insight into the local conditions of the biosphere reserve in terms of challenges and solutions in the field of climate change adaptation.
Packed lunches will be provided and can be eaten during a stop at the biosphere reserve’s visitor center.
The excursion ends with the return to Lutherstadt Wittenberg at around 6 p.m.
The evening is then at your free disposal.

Post-conference excursion
7-9 June, northern parts of the Elbe River Landscape Biosphere Reserve
The Elbe River Landscape Biosphere Reserve ist the largest inland biosphere reserve in Germany. EuroMAB 2024 will take part in den southern parts of the biosphere reserve. To give you the possibility to explore the northern parts in Brandenburg, Lower Saxony and Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania, an optional follow-up excursion from 7 to 9 June will be organised, focusing on topics such as flood protection, the former inner-German border and the typical nature and landscape.
